Scholar in Collars provides the most comprehensive program due to our unique structure.
We separate your dog's education into 3 primary areas that are structured to complement each
other, providing a more time and cost efficient structure and a more educated owner and dog.

Obedience - LEVEL ONE FAMILY PET CLASS
Canine Parenting and Problem Solving - CANINE BEHAVIOR SEMINAR
Puppy Socialization, Confidence & Manners - PUPPY DROP IN CLASS

  • Please scroll down to read program descriptions and details.
  • Begin in whichever program begins soonest to start your education within a
    week of connecting with us.
  • No Dog Yet? Attend the Canine Behavior Seminar and come to watch a
puppy drop class asap. Both provide critical owner education and a plan
before your new addition comes home.

LEVEL 1 FAMILY PET CLASS

  • FOR PUPPIES AND DOGS OF ALL AGES (10 weeks is the best age for pups)

Puppies can and should go right into Level One. Due to our unique program structure there is no need
to spend time and money on a watered down puppy course prior to doing your real basic training in a
Level One Program. In most schools you invest time and money in a puppy program then have to follow
it with a Level one family pet obedience course after that. At Scholars Puppies go right into Level One
resulting in a much more trained dog much sooner. This is due to our unique Puppy Drop In Social class.

Level One Family pet class is designed to give you the necessary tools to achieve an educated,
obedient and happy dog using scientifically proven fully positive methods. Dog training is a well studied
field and ideas of dominance, threat, fear and "balanced" techniques were de-bunked 2 decades ago.
They have also been studied and proven to have a risk of  negative behavioral side effects including
aggression. It is unnecessary to have an adversarial relationship with your dog in order to educate your
canine companion.

You will learn to teach your dog sit, down, stand, stay, wait, come when distracted, to walk on a loose
leash and most importantly to pay attention and do all of this under distraction. You will also work on
chilling out calmly, possession prevention and other behavioral aspects.  A key to our program is that
you learn how distractions and temptations can work for you instead of against you. You will learn how to
have an obedient dog without any harsh or threatening techniques. Training should not be something
you "subject" your dog to, but should be a fun activity you do together.

Your puppy will learn to be behave appropriately with dogs, people, strangers, examination, grooming,
separation and physical challenges while learning to pay attention to you. Critical development for
puppies is actually between 3-12 weeks of age so starting as close to 10 weeks as possible is
recommended. This program is the key that allows us to put puppies into Level One Obedience
without having to do a puppy program ahead of time so you save time and money. It also means
you end up with a puppy that is more socially balanced and much more trained much sooner.
Puppies must have proof of most recent vaccination and must have been with you for two weeks.
